Track 3. Nillili Mambo (title)A hip hop track seasoned with an arrangement of a heavy dance rhythm and a grand orchestra. I did this together with Poptime hyung who looks like Snoopy and NuSoul hyung who became famous for his appearance on Super Star K. With “pirates” as our theme, we looked for and watched movies with the same subjects and we listened to the sound effects and OST that were inserted here and there, thus gaining inspiration for the source. It is brass and string orchestral music-oriented, and filled with middle and high-register ranges. For the sake of a smooth change in the composition, fx were used to widen the sound space. To counter the elaborate progression, we went with a simple kick and bass pattern.In the composition of the melody line, focus was put on the members’ personalities. The first verse cuts off with rap, then the B part has B-Bomb’s mid-low range vocals which then continues with Jaehyo’s buildup. It goes into the hook with P.O.’s shouting and taunting, and then I put in Block B’s uniquely playful chorus. Overall, the lines were aimed to match the members’ timbre and tone.I was looking for a nuance that is catchy and easy to follow like Nanlina, and then I used Nillili Mambo, which is very Korean-like and cute, as the title.
Track 4. Mental BreakerA recently popular saying among people in their tens and twenties is “mental breakdown”. Honestly, I’ve been been keeping this theme in mind for a while now, and now I’m personally writing this as a song.This track tells the scene of the mental breakdown in the process of meeting a girl who pushes and pulls a guy.If you make a bouncy lead bass with a refined rhythm and beat, it gives a pop-like feel but I felt that it would have a high chance of becoming stale then, so I added some funk to the melody.Because I thought that the only person among the members with the skills to deliver this kind of witty lyrics and rhythm, I challenged myself to vocals for the first time.
Track 5. No JokePark Kyung, P.O., and I, us three are always fooling around a lot..! But when working on music, I wanted to appeal that it’s as brutal as the 3rd year (of highschool) in November, so I made this track on impulse. While recording, I think I emptied more than 3 cans of energy drinks. Park Kyung’s aggressive and straightforward lyrics and flow stand out in this track.
Track 6. Movie’s OverThis is the first time I’ve done a rhythm and blues that tells of an earnest parting. Honestly, this song was not for Block B. I wrote this thinking of a female solo, and the song was completely composed of vocal lines. But after completing it, I realized that it was an emotional song that we had not tried before. So I readjusted the key and composed it again, adding a rap part and making it reborn into Block B’s version. In order to give the subject a close mood, so I worked really hard on making the harmony and parts.Yohan hyung who looks like the bear Ted did the guitar session, and sir Gye BumJoo did the chorus for us. This track is filled with the intentions of a couple exhausted from the repetitive breaking up and getting together.

The theme of Block B’s first full-length album is “freedom”.
